“Anti-corruption for Foreign Companies in China”, CanCham HK, May 7th, 2015 (Hong Kong)

Caroline Berube presented on “Anti-corruption for Foreign Companies in China” for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. The Anti- Corruption campaign has been gaining momentum ever since the new chairman Xi Jing Ping took over the position. The “shock and awe” approach has achieved significant results across different sections of the Party, the government, and the military. The consequences of being found guilty of corruption in China are greater for foreign companies than for domestic firms, and prosecutions could cause serious damage to overseas investors’ development in the country. Foreign companies should be aware of serious consequences such as huge fines, blacklisting, imprisonment of key people and effects on continuing operations in China. The seminar provided all the necessary information about Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption Actions in China for foreign companies and what the companies and their employees need to avoid.
